Zero Waste Home:
The first book I read when starting down this journey was Zero Waste Home by Bea Johnson. I found it a quick read with great tips and beginner will hopefully find value in it.

New Dream
https://newdream.org/
Love this non-profit which was founded by sociologist who understood the harm overconsumption does to kids, families, and communities from a psychological and developmental perspective. They are focused on how simplifying lives (and holidays), and building sharing communities helps us and the planet be happy and healthy.

www.SaveTheFood.com
I impressed on people that we have to do better and preventing the loss of edible food.  Save The Food is a great campaign from NRDC and the National Ad Council with information about why consuming the food we buy it  is so important, how to store, save, and cook food for maximum prevention of waste, AND loads of free, very professional communication tools:  videos, posters, bill boards, bus signs, etc.

Food: Too Good to Waste
https://www.epa.gov/sustainable-management-food/food-too-good-waste-implementation-guide-and-toolkit
Another great tool kit with lots of education and home food saving tips and tools.  The webpage looks governmental, but get past it and the tools are very user friendly.

www.ReUSEMN.org
This Minnesota non-profit has an online directory of reuse, rental, and repair options for whatever you want to get secondhand, borrow, or get fixed.  Mostly they have metro-area businesses listed currently, but their goal is state wide listing.  ReUSE MN teaches people about the many benefits of reuse, helps them find the reuse businesses that have what they need, and creates a B2B network for reuse businesses to better reuse the materials that come to them.

https://www.hennepin.us/choose-to-reuse
another great online directory of reuse businesses – focused on Hennepin County

Fix-it Clinics
Hennepin, Dakota, Ramsey Counties all sponsor monthly Fix it clinics, free to citizens of any county. Bring your broken carry-able items and volunteer fixers will work with you to teach you how to fix it. Electronics, mechanical things, clothes, simply jewelry fixes, broken ceramics, etc.  It’s empowering, multi-generational, and super fun.

www.iFixit.com
Great open source online repository of repair manuals made by people who have fixed things.  Hundreds of manuals with photos and step by step directions available.

www.Repair.org
If you want to get involved in supporting Right to Repair legislation in MN or around the country.

Minneapolis toy library
https://mplstoylibrary.org/

Minnesota tool library
https://www.mntoollibrary.org/
This organization has two super popular locations and is hoping to expand – volunteers/support will help them expand further in the metro area and greater MN.
